Bellmor House
Lake Conroe, Texas
This home was designed for a client with a beautiful Lakefront property on Lake Conroe. The owners are a retired couple looking for a peaceful, modern retirement home. The lakefront home is meant to be a refuge for the couple as well as a welcoming space to entertain visiting family and friends.
The design of the house is totally focused on the spectacular views to the south of the lake. Upon entering, a striking monolithic stone wall guides the eye directly to the panoramic views of the lake. The wall also serves as a divider between the more public and private spaces of the home. On one side, the open Kitchen, Living and Dining spaces welcome visitors and provide expansive views of the lake through butt-jointed glass windows, and a fully operable folding glass wall. On the other side, the owners suite is sheltered away, while still also having expansive views of the lake. The open living space transitions to the exterior through the operable folding glass wall to a covered patio with powered retractable screens. This patio can be fully enclosed by the screens to take advantage of cool seasonal days and evenings, while keeping out the native pests, allowing for a much more realistic use of the indoor/outdoor space in the Southeast Texas climate. Beyond the patio, the backyard terraces down to the infinity edge pool which was designed to feel like an extension of the lake right up to the patio of the house. The house has an overall striking modern profile with its huge windows and low sloped roofs, and stands out as a sleek addition to the lakefront.
